• Marc was asked to be a mentor for Capitol Factory startup companies.
• Capital Factory is a seed stage mentoring program for startups that provides a small amount of seed capital and weekly mentoring sessions by entrepreneurs who have founded successful companies.
• 10 to 15 years ago, the only way to start a company was through Venture Capatal.
• Starting Companys today can be a lot cheaper with all the online tools such as Basecamp, FreshBooks, etc. to help keep costs manageable.
• Capital Factory people are working on there own deals or business, but still want to help and give back to the community to create more good ideas and more economic wealth.
• Capitol Factory will pick the three best new startup company ides and fund them.
• Good resources in Houston area for startup companies – Chamber of Commerce, Houston Technology Center, Universities, Small Business Development Center, Caroline Collective and Coffee Groundz.
